Seon Williams is a lifelong resident and a lifelong Democrat of Champaign County. Mr. Williams graduated from Urbana High School in 1987 and later dedicated six years to the US Army’s 4th Psychological Warfare Unit at Ft Bragg, NC. Returning to the CU area, he initiated a legacy of community service through Community Collaboration. His military background, entrepreneurship, and unwavering commitment showcase his vital role in building a successful and vibrant Champaign County. Seon will use his collective experience to continue proudly serving the community and make history as the first African American Coroner in Champaign County.
The Coroner under Seon Williams’ leadership will work with community partners to hold seminars and educational forums with the Champaign County community focusing on the youth to educate them on the consequences of gun violence, drunk driving, drug overdose, and domestic abuse.
As the Coroner, Seon Williams will process death certificates in a timely manner and use innovative resources to provide grief assistance services through community partnerships. Through Seon’s connection to the County Coroners Office as a Funeral Home owner, Seon will provide transparency and closure to families when they lose loved ones and focus on providing trust and respect.
